Effects of Post-stocking Flows on Striped and Hybrid Striped Bass Recruitment in the Ohio River

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources and bordering states stock striped bass (Morone saxatilis) and hybrid striped bass (Morone saxatilis x Morone chrysops) into the Ohio River. These stockings resulted in the development of Morone spp. sport fisheries in several pools of the Ohio River along Kentucky's border. Inter-river Migration of Striped Bass in Western Kentucky

Fifteen radio-tagged striped bass (Morone saxatilis) were tracked to determine seasonal, inter-river distribution patterns, and habitat use in the vicinity of the Ohio, Tennessee, Cumberland, and Mississippi rivers from November 1992 to November 1993. Seasonal Movement and Distribution of Striped Bass in the Ohio River

Twenty-four adult striped bass (66.8-84.6 cm; 4-7 years) from the McAlpine Pool of the Ohio River were fitted with internal radio transmitters and tracked from May 1989 through May 1990. Study fish were found to be very mobile, although seasonal movement patterns were predictable. Tagged striped bass utilized the tailwater and upper pool sections during the spring, summer, and fall.
