Since the 1987 closure of Texas' Type II Public Hunting Lands to the hunting of deer with dogs and a subsequent statewide prohibition of the method in 1990, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has received numerous complaints about small bands of East Texas hunters who continue to use the method in open defiance of the prohibition.
