Field Evaluations of Newer Aquatic Herbicides
The results of 116 aquatic weed control experiments using 10 herbicides and their combination are discussed. Included are data for pre-emergent soil application during winter draw-down, pre-emergent total pond treatments and post-emergent applications. Pre-emergent soil application during winter drawdown was comprised of 31 experiments, testing varying concentrations of eight different soil sterilants for the control of rooted aquatic weeds. Data is presented on 15 small impoundments ranging from two acres to 500 acres in size where different fishery management techniques l This work was undertaken with Federal Aid to Fish Restoration Funds under Dlngell. fohnson Project F-I1-R, Pond Management Evaluations. 347 were utilized in conjunction with winter drawdowns. All ponds were lowered for approximately 80 days between October 1 and January 15.
Experimental Use of Silvex and Other Aquatic Herbicides in Georgia Farm Ponds
The results of two years experimental weed control in Georgia Farm Ponds using silvex,2 propylene glycol butyl ether ester, dalapon, sodium salt of 2,2dichloropropionic acid; 2, 4-D granules of iso-octyl ester of 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid. Residual control and overall effectiveness is evaluated over a twoyear period on acquatic weeds in approximately 100 ponds. Preliminary screening of Inverton, an invert emulsion of 2, 4, 5-trichlorophenoxy acetic acid; Carlon, a solution of dalapon and silvex; and simazine, 2-chloro-4, 6 bis( ethylamino) -S-trizaine are presented.
